The white walls surround you, and cages line the walls. Glittering med bottles line pale shelves, and syringes lie in many places that you wouldn't expect.
Cries of misery echo through this place.

Zachary Hughes Zack had perched on top of the building, and quickly morphed into his white raptor form so no humans would glance up to see a young boy perched on a skyscraper. Amber was down below, making hand signals. Then, it all went wrong. A police officer startled Zack mid-morph and he toppled off the building. He had to spread his wings, else he'd die. "Amber!" He shouted, beating his wings frantically to slow down. Zachary was actually only discovered a month or two ago, so his powers were still being exercised and he wasn't a very flexible shifter yet. He couldn't attempt a shift again for another hour or so... He caught Amber's gaze and shrugged helplessly as a police officer shot them both with tranquilizer guns. Zack plummeted to the ground, fracturing something, and the last thing he saw was Amber going limp.

Amber Danell Amber, who had been signalling Zack until he spooked and fell, cried out in shock. "No!" She yelped, her ivy hairband falling and her twin hairbraids flapping around with her panicked motion to reveal her pointed ears. Her molten caramel eyes widened, and she nearly stumbled over a chunk of concrete and skinned a knee. "No!" She parroted herself in her despair, watching as her white-haired companion fell from his temporary flight spot after being tranquilized. She tried running to catch him, but she felt a pang in the small of her back and grogginess spreading through her. "Zach..." She whispered as she went limp.

Zachary Hughes He woke up in a room, humans scribbling notes all around him. He attempted to give them a few choice words, only to discover he was gagged and bound. Pft, stupid humans... Camp will surely send a rescue mission, right? Then he wondered if these humans had any sense of hospitality, like most humans he had met in the city had. Well, maybe towards other humans. But for all they know, we're freaks of nature! His rational side screamed back at him. This is stupid. Why am I even arguing with myself? He then stopped his mental debate and looked around the room for Amber.

Paige paced around her cell, which was weird, because she wasn't a pacing kind of girl. Well, not girl. Faery. When she had been taken to this confining jail several months ago, she had been alone. Now, a girl and a boy had joined her in the surrounding cells. She sensed the boy sit up. Paige quickly sent him a telekinikic ((90% sure I spelled that wrong )) message. "Whatever you do, don't say anything aloud!"

Zachary Hughes Zack heard Paige's telepathic message and thought, rather rudely and loudly, Do I look like I can talk? I may be able to turn into animals, but I can't speak through gags. And then he made an exaggerated show of rolling his eyes at the Faery. Wait... Turning into animals. I could try transforming into something small, when they aren't looking. I can run back to camp and get help. He broadcasted. The telepathic activity left the shapeshifter tired, and he slumped in his cage. He already saw the back of a scientist, he already was anticipating his next move...
And all the scientist saw was an albino rat scampering away from an empty cell...

Paige was surprised. The boy was smarter then he looked.
She turned to the other side, towards the girls' cell. She still seemed unconscious, but Paige wasn't sure.

Sadie Edwards The girl was tossed unceremoniously into an empty cell. Her black fur was puffed up and her blue eyes gleamed with hate, but she made sure she didn't seem like anything more than the pissed she-cat she appeared to be. She turned up her nose- only to smell an all-too-familiar smell, rapidly fading. Zachary had been here, but he had recently escaped. Another quick waft- and left Amber Danell and Paige Sherr here to die. THAT'S IT. Zachary Hughes is the BIGGEST JERK to walk the Earth. She thought loudly. Then she remembered that Paige was a psychic- which meant that she probably just heard that.

Paige looked up to see a black cat flinged into the cell. She suddenly broadcasted a very angry message about the boy, whOse name was apparently Zachary. "oh, he's not that bad." she broadcasted back. "a bit selfish, yes, but he'll probably go for help sooner or later." Paige closed her eyes, imagining a wave of her consciousness spreading out, beyond the cell walls. She heard a faint voice. Was that Hazel?

Sadie Edwards Sadie winced and curled up on the cold, wet floor unhappily. Goddamn it, Zack. I hate your guts. Sadie thought, careful not to broadcast. The faery appeared to be deep in thought anyways. No use disturbing her.

The scientist donned a nondescript white lab coat, put on spectacles, and paced into the room with the cages. The unholy creatures appeared to be thoroughly miserable. Good. He thought. Even though the one deep in concentration did seem a little worrisome- nah, he was just being delusional. He grabbed his clipboard and scribbled some notes about the creatures' behavior. Then, he exchanged the clipboard and pen for a syringe and approached the black cat. Time to get the little turtle out of her shell~ He thought, before jabbing the werecat in the leg with the syringe. Of course, he was careful not to miss the vein he was aiming for...

Sadie Edwards Sadie curled up in pain. She had always hated needles- especially when people weren't careful with them. Against her will, she found herself curled into fetal position- as a human. She let out a small groan and tried shifting back- to no avail. I haaaaaaate you. I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, REAAAAAAAALLY hate you. She thought, not even caring if her little mantra was heard by the faery.

He couldn't help but snigger at the girl. She seemed so small, so pathetic, so helpless.... And he caught a brief glimpse of her eyes. They were amazing: deep blue, wide, cat-like... she even seemed to have a tapetum. Her night vision must be amazing... she might even be able to see in full color. He needed to see more, to examine their every detail, and to adapt eyes like those for humans. He didn't even care if he might damage the werecat's eyes; it would be for the good of humanity. The scientist pried those blue eyes open and promptly shoved equipment in her face, and various utensils to get a better view.

Sadie Edwards Long through the day and the night, she endured. She endured needles being shoved right in her eyes, and even scraping against her cornea. She resisted the urge to flinch; that would only bring the horribly sharp tools closer to her. A few times, she failed to stop her natural reflexes and she had scrapes dangerously close to her eyes. Finally, he let her go limp with exhaustion and fear on the ground. She was racked with tremors and sobs as she once again curled up defensively on the ground, waiting for her life to pass her by. It felt like no rescue would come...

He decided to let the werecat get some sleep. After all, he needed some too. The scientist had already scribbled all of his notes for the day down. He glanced up at the sleeping werecat and then locked himself in his dorm. He promptly fell asleep.
