Roleplaying has many different forms, all of which are wonderful in their own way. Here's a quick little guide on the many different forms of RP!
PERSON AND TENSE
You should all have learned these in elementary school, or at the very most middle school. But just as a brush-up, here's your 'persons' or 'point of views' and your 'tenses'.
Remember all that?
Even if you don't, that provides a few good examples. This forum roleplays in Third Person Past-tense.
Now for the actual styles of roleplay.
SCRIPTING
Scripting is found in a lot of places, and an example is...
*he runs, panting heavily* Are you there? *he cocks his head, waiting for a response. Receiving none, he pads forward cautiously* Hello?
The most notable feature is the *action marks*/-action marks-. Scripted roleplays can still be good, but please don't script on this forum!
PARAGRAPH
Paragraph roleplay is written as if you're writing a novel with your fellow roleplayers. Here's an example.
He ran, panting heavily. "Are you there?" He gasps between his deep breaths. He cocks his head, waiting for a response. It never came. Anxiously, he pads forward. "Hello?" He calls feebly.
These RPs use Third Person Past-Tense Paragraph. Please stick to that tense!!
